I have a really simple question I can't seem to find the answer to.  Apparently DNN is used to create intranets.

How do you keep your content secure and keep files in folders (such as the repository) from being found by robots like google.  In other words, I don't want my content showing up in search engines.  The file security isn't crucial by any means... just stuff I'd rather not be released for the world to see.  (ie. like employee phone numbers directory, etc).

I made the site private.  But won't google still go through my directories?

Thanks

Google can only "go through" directories that it has access to, meaning the files in that directory are linked to on a publicly visible page, either an html page with links to the documents, or if you have "directory browsing" turned on in IIS.

You can also limit most robots by including a robots.txt file for your website that defines where they can or can't go.

With DNN you can also enable "secure" file folders, that will restrict access to files to users who are logged in and have the appropriate rights
