Hello all,

I am new to this and trying to teach myself. My goal is to build the webpage for my bussiness. You can feel free to call me a dipstick if you like. I am rather accustomed to it. the issue I am having at the moment is that I picked up VS 2008 Standard thinking that this would allow me to work with DNN. Thus far, I have had no luck finding the tempate. Am I missing something or am I just SOL?

Thank you in advance for your time.

You only need VS2008 if you want to modify the core or build your own modules i.e. play around in the 'backend'.

To create a site using DNN you just need the Install download from this site a computer that has IIS, .NET v2 and a version of SQL server.  If you run XP or Vista you can get running for no $ cost.

If you are not that familiar with server environments you might want to think about setting it up or having it set up for you at a hosting company so when you go live you don't need to move the files and configuration from one machine to another.

We have several videos regarding DNN installation on shared hosting severs. The exact number of steps involved will change depending on the hosting environment you are in, but the concept is similar:

(These videos were made in 2005, so the DNN version shown is still 3.x.x something.)
