In my portal -> Host Settings -> Performance Settings the Module Caching Method is set to Disk.

However when checking the scheduler, the purge cache job has never been enabled and hence the size of my disk cache on the server is HUGE!

It is so bad that when I try using the Clear Cache option (in Host Settings -> Performance Setttings) it times out.

So my question is, can I simply navigate to the cache folder in each portal within my host of the server and manually delete all the cache files?

I would like to know as well as SupaHoopsa if manually deleting the cache folders in each web does the same thing as clearing the cache on the host settings tab?

*** POP ***

I never did get an answer about this.

Can anyone confirm whether or not it is OK to manually delete cache files. My "LIVE" portal file system has grown to over 1gb in size and 90% of this is down to cache files.

I do have the purge cache shceduled job switched on and below is the recent history:

Reading this it would seem that the job is working OK, but I still have 1000's of cache files in my various portal sub directories????

Any help would be REALLY, REALLY appreciated.

Hi.

I think it is ok to manually delete cache files. We have an import job into our dotnetnuke system where we delete the cache files. We also deletes the files if we got some kind of hickups as we sometimes do.
