Hi,

I was wondering what is the best was of handling special characters in a module. I know I would code it outside DNN, but I wanted to know whether DNN takes care of special characters or should I be handling them in code.

The ways I am familiar with is
1)      Use the Ajax filtered text box (However ajax doesn’t work in our DNN environment at present, we are still looking into why not)
2)      Use Javascript to on every module to check user input and whether someone has copied and posted it in.
Number 2 seems like a waste as each module will need that in, could anyone suggest a better way.

Thanks

Hey Rav,

Could you explain a little bit more the high level goal of what you would like to accomplish? There are a variety of ways of going about handeling filtering users input and depending on what exactly you are trying to accomplish these could be very different.

Thanks!

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the response, the following is required

no numeric characters should not be allowed and the special characters should be restricted to the following four:  & - ' ,

Thanks

you might need to add a custom field validator.

I would use a RegEx validator to validate the input.
