I am in the process of setting up a Dev environment for my website.

I use crystal tech for hosting my servers.  I had them make a copy of my files and database on a new server.

My current issue is that I cannot access my host settings... admin works fine.  All logins and calls to the database work.

I think the issue is that the redirects on the host settings were copied to the new server and are causing the problem.

Hence I have two redirects set up that point to two different IP addresses.

The first step that I would like to try would be to remove the redirect from the dev environment.... but I can't get to the host acct to do so.

Is there any alt. way to remove this redirect?? I,e.  What table is it recoreded in the dnn database.  I have access to my database via sql server but cannot seem to locate the table.  If a simple sql query would work.. i'm up for suggestions.

Or any other ideas.

Thanks

I'm not sure where the problem lays for you but you could check the PortalAlias table to see if there's something there still pointing back to your original site. If you can make sure you do a backup of the database before making any changes.

I don't think you should remove all the portal aliases, just change them to be the correct values for your new server.  I don't know if a DNN site will work without ANY portal aliases!

You can go into IIS and manually enter the new dev server URL into the 'host headers' field for your new dev DNN install.

Are both your dev and live installs on the same machine?

Cheers,

Lance

OK.  I fixed the host acces prob.. it was due to a dll file that I didn't remove after a failed attempt to upgrade to 4.8.... (hence the dev environment cause my website ended up being down for a couple of days)

I've tried changeing the portal aliases to the IP address.  I have a separate server setup for dev... still not luck.

I don't think I need to get new url's.  I'm assuming the IP address should work.  Still no luck though!!

Any more ideas would be welcome :)

To answer Lance's queston from above.. both are on different machines.
