I have found a thread that already asks a similar question. However, I am not satisfied with the answer... especially since I found the folder the  web farm PDF refers to.

In the web farm literature it mentions (if you are using file replication services - in my case it is DFS) to open the following file:
$root\Providers\CachingProviders\BroadcastPollingCachingProvider\Providers\SQLDataProvider\ 03.01.00.SqlDataProvider

However, when I go to the BroadcastPollingCachingProvider folder, no other folders except Install and Uninstall reside there. I did find a file called 03.01.00.SqlDataProvider under Website\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider. When I tried to run this file, it gave me the largest slew of SQL errors I have ever seen. Any idea what I need to do? Does anyone have the script that they can post?

ALSO, I see in the PDF it mentions the MachineValidationKey and MachineDecryptionKey needs to be the same on both servers. Does this mean that we need to change the machine keys on the actual server or just make sure the web.config has the same?

Thank you very much for your time!

I don't know the answer to your first question, but as for the machinevalidationkey and machinedecryptionkey, they must be the same in the web.config files - if you're copying the site that's always the case - the note is there to ensure users don't use autogenerate as it's not valid for webfarms.

Hi Cathal

I'm with Kellie on this one. The documentation defiantly points to $root\providers\cachingproviders\broadcastpollingcachingprovider\providers\sqldataprovider\03.01.00.sqldataprovider which does not exist in my copy of 4.08.04 could we have an updated document on how to setup web farm support for the latest version or a quick how to in these forums

Many Thanks

I've never set up the caching provider so I'm not 100% sure, but looking into the source code repository I think 03.01.00 was renamed Install.SqlDataProvider (i.e. it became the base install), so I guess the edits you need to do are in it.

We're overdue updating a number of the documents - it's something i'll be pushing for once we get 5.0 out the door.
