Brad Hurlbert here:

I am using Gate.com for one of my test DNN sites.  It takes 45-60 to load... What the heck?  Something must be wrong right?

You will want to check a few things.

1.) Do you have low traffic?  If so you will want to get a keepalive solution (host-tracker.com or pingdom are good).
2.) Have you validated your cache and other DNN performance settings?
3.) What content do you have on the page.

If you need some help, drop me an e-mail msellers@iowacomputergurus.com

Is your dnn account using SQL Express or SQL Server? SQL Express doesn't perform as well in an environment with multiple web sites .
