I’m working on configuring a DNN deployment and have hit a roadblock on being able to distribute user security management of the portal across customers. If anyone has ideas on how to do this or knows of any add on modules that provide this feature please share!

Here’s what I’m trying to setup:

The portal is common site that will provide general data and specific customer data to a group of paying customers. All authorized users can see the general content, but specific customer data and pages are restricted based upon the customer security group you belong to. EG. Users of CUSTOMER A get assigned to a CUSTOMER A security group, which allows them to see pages and data relevant to them.

This security model works great when we centrally setup the primary manager at each customer, but we would like each of the company managers to have the ability to add / edit / delete their own team members to the system. EG. A manager in COMPANY A could add and manage his/her own team members, and assign them to their company security group, but not have the ability to add to other company security groups.

Ideas I've tried:
We have played with the concept of RSVP codes which allow employees to set themselves up and get into the right group based upon the code they enter, but there doesn’t appear to be any way to allow the manager to modify their account and/or remove them from the system. This level of maintenance appears to be restricted to administrators.

Does anyone have ideas on how this could be accomplished???

To really get this going the way that you need it to be you will need to create a custom user module, even with DNN 5 this will not be possible out of the box.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement but it will take some time.  Drop me an e-mail at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com if you would like to discuss custom building.

Thanks for the feedback and offer for custom develpment work.  Ideally I'm checking to see if anyone knows of a module or extension that already exists that maybe does some of the decentralization, as we coudl always adjust requirements a bit to work with a pre-exisitng module.  Thx
