Hey All,

I'm just in the process of looking for a (the) best online shop module.  I'm about to download the DNN shop (latest version), but before I spend hours configuring it would be interested to hear your thoughts if this is the best choice, of if I should be looking at some 3rd party shop module?

We will likely need to do some customisation to the source (to localise it to use New Zealand payment gateways) and we're hoping to do some form of synchronisation between the shop stock lists and our clients MYOB accounting software, so these will be key considerations when choosing the 'right' module to look at.

Other considerations might include:

  • weight based freight calculations (Ideally we could integrate into local freight tools, or freight web.service)
  • volume discounting
  • role restricted products/prices
  • category / sub category / product list / product detail page structure
  • related or associated products
  • product image optimisation (upon upload) would be nice.
  • custom tax options for local purchases (I.e. should be able to define local country)
  • hmm, a gazillion other things probably too....

Anyway, if any of you have some thoughts on this matter, I'd love to hear from you :-)

Cheers,

Reuben.

Umm?  is anyone using a shopping cart module in their site?

Does no one have any thoughts or recommendations on leading shop modules?  I'm wanting to find a shopping cart solution similar to torpedo7.co.nz, so if anyone has used any of the DNN cart modules (including core module), I'd love to hear your feedback, advise, thoughts...

...please

Ive just started using eTailer http://www.emerald-solutions.co.uk/eTailerDemostore/

Seems to do just about all you want but be warned if you have a database qualifier of more than 2 chars it wont install correctly. I gather they are working on that.

Otherwise I am quite happy with it.

Hi,

I'm using Catalook.net store, it does everything you listed above.  It is a bit complex to set up, but that is to be expected from a store module that covers all the bases.  It's really worth it, and they have a good turn-around time for support requests posted in their forums.  (...unlke other forums...cough! cough!)

Thanks for your help guys, I'll have a look at these and see how I get on.

BTW, did you first have a look at the core shop?  or go straight to the 3rd party modules? I.e. what was part of your own decision making process when choosing your shop modules?

Cheers,

Reuben.
