I have a DNN 4.8.4 site with a skin on it. But I needed a new color version, so I got it.

But when I go to the skin upload menu I don't get the dropdown but a little circle starts spinning and never stops. I assume this is AJAX but I have turned off AJAX off at the Host level, did a App Restart and I still cannot get some Admin or Host menus to work. The little circle just spins.

First time I have had this issue.

Any ideas?

You need AJAX ON to use the site!

Hi Cliff,

I ran across this just today on a clean install of 4.8.4 on WebHost4Life.  It seems it is dependant on the machine you access the site from.  My machine here at work 'spins' without producing the menu but my machine at home works fine.  Both are IE7 with the latest patches.  I can also add that it is not skin specific and happens even with the out of the box skins.  Enabling or disabling AJAX in host settings has no impact.

The only thing I installed recently on my work machine was MS AJAX and Telerik AJAX controls.

I am going to bump this thread again and ask the members if anyone else has experienced this?  This could be a true show stopper!

Any insight would be appreciated!  If I find something, I will post back here.

The spinning circle graphic sounds like the action menu's load-on-demand function. I found that to be unreliable on a shared account and now disable it for all containers.

To do this, set PopulateNodesFromClient="False" in the dnn:Actions tag for all containers.

So are you saying that I would need to go into all my skin containers and make a change or is this at a lower code level?

I am using a dedicated server, not shared hosting. So that is not the issue.

For me as a workaround, I just installed the skin on another site and then moved the skin folder over to the site on which I wanted it to be located.

Obviously, this is not a long term solution, but since I can RDP into my server, it wasn't that big of a deal.

I agree that it needs to work correctly.
