Could somebody tell me the difference between Unused space vs. unallocated space, etc.?  My database space is maxed out at 606MB and I'm trying to figure out what's causing it, how to find it and how to get rid of it... any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Example:  All in MB

Size = 606

Data Space = 10.32

Index Space = 4.23

Log Space = 11

Unallocated Space = 579.38

Unused Space = 1.08

Shrinking the DB will get rit of unallocated space. From SQL Management Studio, right click the database in question, in the tasks submenu select the option Shrink Database

I don't have SQL Management Studio... I'm using TOAD and don't see anything similiar to your instructions.  Does anybody out there use TOAD and can help?  I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Also from the host -> SQL menu you can run the following command

DBCC SHRINKDATABASE(myDB)

Where myDB is the name of your database.
