Hello,

I currently have an issue with getting some of my pages to be forced to use SSL on and DNN 4.5.5 installation.

I have a valid certificate installed on the server and in the site settings of DNN I have SSL Enabled and SSL Enforced checked off.

On the pages that I'd like to make secure I've checked the Secure option on each, however when I browse to those pages it does not forced the page to use SSL.  If I change the http to https manually the page loads fine.

What am I missing?  Thanks for your time

Joe

Joe,

Turn on "SSL Enforced". As I understand it, this is supposed to cause DNN to force the use of SSL on the pages which you have marked as "Secure". Also, ensure that you have entered your SSL and standard (non-SSL) URLs in the settings for your portal. These settings are in the same place as the "SSL Enforced" option (Host | Portals | {edit portal} | Advanced Settings | SSL Settings. After this is done, you should see your site switch back and forth from a secure connection depending on the "Secure" setting of the page, HOWEVER...

I am just about to post an issue that I am having concerning the switching between SSL and standard URLs. I have found (both on IE and Firefox) that if you clear all your data in the browser and navigate to your standard URL, then click on a secure page, DNN does not properly redirect to the SSL URL. If you manually go to the SSL URL, it works, and then it also seems to work as advertised in all future visits between SSL and standard pages. Furthermore, if a user is logged in under your standard site and clicks on a secure page, it appears as if the user has logged out (the Login link appears at the top of the page), yet when navigating back to a standard page, you can see that they are still logged in.

Hope this helps.
