I have recently installed 4.8.2. and a newcomer to the DNN environment  and have several  tutorials.

My question is.  I have a series of Sql statements that I can execute in Sql Query analyzer with SMSS.  I have made this a Store Procedure using and can execute it within SMSS.

The procedure was credated to handle additional processing, after the user updates some parametes within a custom table.  Based upon the records / parameters eneterd, the DB performs additional processing.

The procedure does not return a value.  Its purpose is to find the latest entry into a specific table, perform some other table queries and write out an excel file.  All of this works when performed via SMSS (via the Query Analyzer or calling the SP thru SMSS)

My problem is not understanding how to execute / call this SP directly from a DNN module.

Can someone point me to a specific article or provide some additional insight?

Thanks

Rich

Depends on exactly what you are going for here.  Do you want to CREATE a DNN module to call these procedures, or are you asking how to call them from existing modules?

You say it doesn't return a value necessarily, so I'm guessing it returns a "SELECT" statement? (ie., 0 or more rows that match a SELECT)?

I'd imagine the REPORTING module can connect to a stored procedure though I haven't actually tried it (you can enter straight SQL queries, so I'd imagine you could connect it to a stored proc either through a query, or even directly if it supports it).  Additionally, if you still have the Host-->SQL tab enabled you could go in there directly and run the execute statement against your stored procedure (be sure to check "run as script") and it'll create a table showing your results.

Hope that points you down the right path anyway.
