Hi all,

This is kind of a vague open ended question, so i'm not expecting a perfect answer just a guide in the right direction.  Basically i have set up a dnn site but now want to integrate it with my companies existing customers and orders database.  They are Oracle based.

What I want DNN to do is let customers login view their existing orders and create new orders which are returned to the oracle database for the guys in the warehouse to deal with.... so my first task is to allow existing customers to login to DNN.  The rest can wait for the moment. Any ideas other than copying the data over to DNN's database?

users need a login, you might use a 3rd party module to create it, any other solution would require a custom authentication provider.

For displaying data you will need either a custom module or a customizable module, which can filter data based on userid.

Thanks for the reply, i suspect i'll be building my own auth provider.

I'm currently looking at this article for anybody else wanting to do something similar:

Mitch Sellers has an authentication module for working with 3rd party user dbs.

You may also want to look at SQLGridSelectedView from www.tressleworks.ca ... this module will allow you to connect to various database (including Oracle) and display your data is a grid or templated view.

Paul.
