I have a hosted site I need to keep alive throughout most of the day.  I cannot install anything of course so I must look for an external service.  Searching these forums, I found these two companies and did some quick research.

host-tracker.com

siteuptime.com

Price / year

$50

$48

URL Count

5

3

Intervals

10

5 or 15

Multiple Locations

64

4

Reporting

yes

yes

Alerts: email

yes

yes

Alerts:  SMS

yes

must upgrade

Blackout Schedule

-

yes

By these numbers, both meet my criteria and will get the job done.  I lean towards siteuptime as they mention a blackout schedule where I can still have the process recycle over night to keep it clean.

What I’m looking for is if anyone has experiences with these (or if there’s better) and has a preference.

Thanks
Ryan

just a dumb idea maybe.. why not ask your hosting provider to change the default recylcing time for your application pool?

anyhow, i use hosttracker as well (not for keep alive service, but for site down notifications). IMO the sms feature of host-tracker is great, as it will inform you almost immediately when your site is down

mind you: host tracker also has a free service, but that is whithout sms, and the interval is larger i think
