I've been searching the forums and the web for an answer, but finding none, hope this post helps me.

I have one portal on my DNN site where the admin deleted the default 'Search Results' page (grrr). As a result the site search did not work. However, when I created a new 'Search Results' page with a 'Search Results' module on it, the site search still does not work from any other page except the 'Search Results' page I created.

If you search from any other page, the browser URL ends up like this:

http://ops.nsbsa.org/tabid/312/Default.aspx?Search=camping

and it just reloads the page I am on. (So if I search from the 'Home' page, I get the above URL, but I'm still on the 'Home' page- no search results, If I search from the 'About' page, same URL, but I'm still on the 'About page.). I don't actually have a page called 'Default' (but I tried creating one to see if it would fix it-- it didn't).

I'm using Human Friendly URLs, so I don't even know why the URL returns that way. All my other portals work fine on Search and the results page returns as human friendly.

I modeled all page, site, and module settings I could from another working portal on my DNN install.

I'm at v04.09.00

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated-- this portal happens to be the most important portal!

A little more information...

I've tried turning off friendly URLs-- it didn't matter.

I created a template based on the site with the broken search (content included) and then created a new site based on that template-- the search worked on the new site(!). (But since all my users don't port over, I can't just use that fix)

The issue exists in IE 6 and Firefox 2.2

I am having the similar problem.  I just get a blank search results page, no results at all.  On a new 4.9 site.  I search and there are no results. I have the Friendly URL's on, most everything is default actually.  When I build a page, I am filling out keywords but there are no results no matter what I search on?

http://hrhonline.org.dnnmax.com/SearchResults/tabid/37/Default.aspx?Search=contact is an example. of a URL.

Thanks,

Dave

This started working?  I don't know if the site has to be restarted or what happened, but our search now works?  It might have to do with giving the DB time to index content?  This is the only thing I can think of that happened.  Anyways, if your site search is not working (v4.9)  give it a couple of days.

Thanks,

Dave
