Surely someone has found a creative means to assign a role to a registering user based on the page they are on, a selection they made, or other?

In classic asp I'd stick a hidden field with the value of the role in it, (one per page) then let the subscriber choose their option - Platnum, Gold, Silver  - and when they click register submit that to the database.

How does DNN deal with this?

I don't mean 'auto assign' a role to 'every' registrant. I mean, assign a specific role based on some kind of input from the subscriber.

It seems ironic that a solution so well developed as DNN, (and much appreciated), depends on users making decisions on buying so many third party 'solutions'.

I appreciate your answer and have previously read all the docs, posted to both UCANUSE and Datasprings about their modules. I've been frustrated that a simple thing (yeah right) as assigning roles at the time of registration would require another purchase, but, hey that's what were in business for right?

I guess I was hoping for a magic bullet that was an easy build.
