So I am trying to display the username/password combo for anonymous users and then switch to accountname/logout once they log in. So I figured I can use the SIGNIN and the LOGIN control together but it turns out that this does not work. Is there a way to configure the LOGIN control so that the username/password boxes are shown all the time (like the SIGNIN control does)?

Also, is there a way not to show the help signs and have the username/password combo next to each other rather than on top of each other?

Thanks, Markus

at this point no: you'd have to create your own version

I am a little unclear of what you want, and i have heard these can not go on the same page ? ( i think ), but you can have a look at what i have done HERE and with the user details etc i could set that module to registered members only to see and if so this one page i think would do what your saying hope it helps
