Hi ,

         I have parent portal named www.parentportal.com and two child portals named www.child1.com and www.child2.com and i have purchased SSL certificate named www.secure.parentportal.com .

I got security alert if i used https://www.parentportal.com as well for all child portals  how can i avoid this ?

also shall i use the same certificate for all my child portals ? i don't need https:// in all pages only the pages where secure data entred by user....

pls let me know if any suggestion or solution

You can have two kind of SSL certificates:

a) Normal: SSL Certificate will be attached to a full domain name

   i.e. www.mydomain.com

   then, subdomain.mydomain.com will not be refereed by the SSL certificate and you will get always a warming screen. You can avoid it by buying a certificate for each subdomain.

b) Wild-card certificates

   You can buy a certificate like this: *.mydomain.com

   Then you all subdomains.mydomain.com will be valid for that certificate.

I think (not sure) wildcard certificates can be buyed at a higher price.
