I just bought a new server with server 2008 and sql 2008.  I setup DNN on it and it works great when going to http://localhost/site; however, whenever I'm not on the server and trying to go to the site from the outside, I get page can't be displayed.  I know that IIS is running and works fine, because I can go to just http://server and will get the iis logo, but if I got to http://server/site then it doesn't work.

 Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Jordon Shaw

Jordon, be sure to add the Portal Alias for http://server/site to your DNN settings. If you are logged in as HOST on the localhost version go to the Admin/Site Settings page and at the bottom add the alias.

If you want to access it without /site/ then you will have to setup a website, instead of a virtual directory/application, in IIS and add that to the portal alias instead of server/site

Chris,

What did you mean by "add that to the portal alias instead of server/site"?

Please, clarify the use case you are talking about and the solution.

Thank you.

If you want the website URL to be http://server instead of http://server/site add http://server to the portal aliases. You'll have to setup a website in IIS, rather than a virtual directory/application to make that work however.

I'm still having the same issue.  I added the aliases, but still no go.  I know that IIS is working, because I go to the server from a external connection and can see the iis logo; however, whenever I go to http://server/site I still get page can't be displayed.  Any suggestions?  I really need to get this setup, but I've never worked with IIS 7.

Thanks,

Jordon
