Hello

I'm using DNN. 3.2.2. and i am trying to get email notification/verification/password reminder working. I have set up the proper SMTP settings in  host settings.  I did a test and I received the test email.

However, when users register, they don't get the email notification with the verification code.  I've tried setting up test users with different email accounts, and none of the emails were received.  I have checked my spam filters and bulk mail folders and nothing. I have also tried to even do a password reminder and still no results.

The strangest thing is that I have Catalook.Net store installed and emails from the module work without a hitch so I am a bit baffled at what is wrong with the DNN emailer.

I could really use some help sorting this out since it is hampering my DNN release!

One thing to check is with your relay settings in your SMTP setup.  Perhaps these settings allow a relay to the site of your host email account (the one where the "test" of the host smtp settings sends an email), but not to other sites.   I had a similar problem and this was it.

I sorted out my email sending issue. It was the setting of my the admin email account under Admin > User Accounts which was defaulting to admin@192.168.0.1 taking the IP address I was using in my testing environment so I changed it to a proper email address and all worked well.  It took a while to isolate the issue but it's all good now!

Would you be willing to give a walk through on how to setup SMTP server for use with DotNetNuke?  I have a 2003 server running with DNN 3.2.2.
