hi,

I can't seem to create true parent portals. Here's my situation:

From the DNN installation at www.site.com, I'm trying to create the parent portals on subdomains:

sub1.site.com
sub2.site.com
sub3.site.com

What is happening instead is that DNN acts like it's creating the subdomain portal, and then instead of taking me to the new parent portal home page, it takes me back to home page of www.site.com.

Background info:

  • DNS for main site and all subdomains are pointing to DNN root/folder where DNN is installed
  • Subdomains were created through the Hosting Manager in Network Solutions
  • DNN Version: 5.0
  • Host: Network Solutions (although I experienced this exact same problem with GoDaddy)

after screwing around and wasting several months with both GoDaddy and Network Solutions on this problem, it turns out the answer is : YOU CAN'T. For whatever reason, they have their servers locked down so that you can't create multiple portals using DNN. And, on NS you only get one DNN install through their software.

UNACCEPTABLE! Please, if anyone has time to give GD or NS a hard time about this, please do so.

Does anyone know of any hosts where you can make the above happen? Someone recommended Webhost4life to me but he also says the speed is slower.
