I'm logged into my site as the host. Under host, I go to File Manager. I created a new file under the Standard File System. However there is no way to change permissions on the new folder I'ver created. I'm wanting to allow access to this new folder so that I can use the GUI to upload documents and files from other modules. I was directed to setup a folder in this manner via the Document module admin guide (chapter 5).

TIA

I haven't got the document in front of me but I think you wanted to into Admin->File Manager. That allows you to create folders in the portal area itself while under Host->File Manager the folders get created in the Portals\_default directory.

in ADMIN :: Filemanager,, select the folder to go and beneath you will find a permission grid to grant read (and select file) or write )(=upload) permissions per role or individual user.

That worked great!

Is there a way to hide certain folders from certain users.

For example, I make Folder A and Folder B. I want User A to only have access to Folder A and upload to it. Folder B would be hidden from view from this user. And the Same would apply for User B and Folder B.

That solved my security issues I was looking for.

Would it be safe to turn veiw and write permissions off for certain users on the Root, Cache and Templates?
