Yep, that's what we do too.

Now there seems to be another problem with this.  It acts like these modules are copied and pasted to every page on the site (yuck - like the old days before object inheritance), because now when I delete one off the home page, the other pages ignore that request.  Now I have to go to every single page on the site and delete these.

This is ridiculous.  There has to be a better way of managing repeating content.

I found the solution to that one too - before you delete it, go into settings and deselect the show on every page and update.  Then delete.  If you don't do that first then when you add a new page it will be there too.

I recall seeing that comment somewhere before.  Thanks for the advice all.  I have since removed all the modules and am redoing all my Link modules as a single Text/HTML module and manually building the links.  I don't get the maximize feature for each group, but I can live with that.

LESSONS LEARNED

1. Keep the number of All Page modules to a minimum because re-ordering is a pain.

2. Uncheck the All Page option before deleting the module.

3. Learn where and how this data is stored in the database for possible manual manipulation later.

4. Create a special page on the site for admins only that contains all of the "show on all page" modules. In that way, you'll always (and easily) know how to get at the root module for the series.
