Bonehead move..

I disabled standard authentication login and implemented OPENID login as the only login authentication routine.

DNN has no reference of an OpenID account ... the host (standard) login certainly doesn't work.

I have access to MSSQL on the server but unable to see or access the tables to manually alter the login authentication mode.

Help

Hi Barry,

Sorry to hear about your problems. I've been there before, but luckly I had access to the tables through the MSSQL client.

Sounds like you're either going to need to contact your IT guy / ISP support department and get your permissions fixed so you are able to access the tables. The other option is restoring your installation / database to a previous date from any backups that might exist. Sorry for the lame answer.

Which version of DNN are you running? I'll be happy to locate the values and write a SQL script that will enable the default authentication provider after you gain access to your DNN database.

Hey Oliver

Yeah...took my eye off the ball.

DNN version 4.08.01

MSSQL Server Management Studio Express

I am perplexed over the permissions in SQL server management ... I can't see any tables in the DNN database..  I can't even write a simple UPDATE query to set the values in IsEnabled back to true and/or the PackageID column to -1, 1, 2 (DNN, LiveID, OpenID respectively)  which I believe will get back the standard DNN login prompt.

Need to work permissions to enable Table view/access et al.

I have console (server) access.

Thanks for the prompt reply earlier

Check your web.config file and locate the SiteSqlServer connection string / application setting, then check the credentials your website is using to connect to the database. Try to use the same username/password that DNN is using to connect to the database server, this should enable you to see the tables and whatnot.

I'm guessing you might be using the static default database file DNN is packaged with by default? If this is the case the DNN database doesn't exist in your SQL server but in the ~/App_Data/Database.mdf file. You'll need to open/attach this in SQL? and then you should be able to modify those records stored in the flat database file?

I'm really not sure on that last piece...

Oliver

All that is good .. I am using the same login as in script (web.config) ..database IS attached and reading from the mdf file located in 'Program Files\MS SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\....'

Can't view Tables...Tried writing a query through one of my modules to reset the authentication modes as an inside approach but getting an 'invalid object name "Authentication"

I'm guessing it is a security thing ... DNN requires front door authentication to write to certain tables??

I just need access to the table from SQL Manager ... My last good is 5 days old .. I guess I may have to restore from that ..

I obviously not up to adequate speed with regard to SQL permissions..
