Hi guys,

Ok.. I installed dotnetnuke with the forums on my hosting provider... it worked fine for 5 days.. my friends have been posting in the forum like crazy..

Earlier at night, I changed something on the web.config not the live version but in the starter kit version and upload it live... when I ran the website it gave me that there is no installation available or something and I found out that I have to put the installationDate in the web.config and I did.  It showed the website, but I can't login at all.. I've been trying to login with host, admin and also my username but it just gives me a "Login failed, remember the password are case sensitive".  I tried the password reminder but it is sending me blank passwords.  I'm totally lost here... there are already some decent posts in the forum and I don't want to reinstall again.  I know I should have backed up the site before changing anything.  Please help... Thanks.

I am having the same problem, among others.  Happens with every install.  Any help would be appreciated.

You should have downloaded the online version of the web.config, modify it and then re-upload it, because it has the MachineValidationKey and MachineDecryptionKey which are generated when the portal was installed and then used to encrypt the passwords of the users, so if you places a new version of web.config, it will have different values for those keys, so users will not be able to login because the encryption key is different.

Did you back up the old web.config before overwriting it? if not I am afraid that there is no way to solve this issue!
