I made a swf file to use as a banner/site logo (this was all new for me). With the skin I was using I was previously usuing a jpg 1024x250 with no distortion. So I made my swf to be the same. I uploaded the swf from Admin > Site Settings > Appearence > Logo. I made sure that under Host > Host Settings > Other Settings that swf was an allowed file extension for the site. However with I refresh the site or restart the application, my banner just shows the alternate text, my flash movie doesn't appear.

Any thoughts?

TIA

The LOGO feature is for images only.  A Flash file requires special HTML tags with a number of Flash-specific attributes.  You'll need to either integrate your flash banner directly into your skin or else use a module (MEDIA or Text/HTML) to house it.

If you created your own Flash file then whatever tool you used should have a "publish" or "generate HTML" option to give you the required HTML tags.  If you are using a borrowed Flash file then go back, view SOURCE for the web page and grab the HTML tags that invoke the Flash file.  You'll probably need to, at the least, alter the attribute that defines the path of the Flash file to match the location of your Flash file.

Here's a good post on one method of adding Flash:
