Hi! Does anyone know how to do a backup of a DNN portal (or host) that is hosted on a server with different applications.

I have (FTP) access to the DNN host installation and its filesystem. Therefore I should be able to execute SQL statements but I am not allowed to do so because the SQL server contains data that I'm not allowed to see. If I did know SQL statements that safes (and restores) only the DNN relevant part then I would be allowed to execute them.

Sorry for may bad english and for beeing a newbe to DNN and SQL

You should be able to run SQL Statements from the Host -> SQL menu.  But I'd backup the files through FTP and ask the SQL admin to make sure the DNN database is backed up.

Hello Jeff

Thanks for your reply. The first part with the FTP is easy. The second ist harder. I would like to have a backup of the (life) DNN installation for recovery and further development. Unfortunately my admin is not able to provide me a backup of the DNN part of the SQL server more often than for a special occasion. I found an interesting blog here. Unfortunately I'm not able to get it right with my installation. In the web.config file I have the following entries:

<connectionStrings>

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=SERVER-99\SQL2005;Initial Catalog=DotNetNuke_0;User ID=xy_user;Password=***" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>

<appSettings>

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=SERVER-99\SQL2005;Initial Catalog=DotNetNuke_0;User ID=xy_user;Password=***" />

</appSettings>

Would it be possible to present me the right SQL statements? Any help is appreciated.

Peter
