Hi,

Having entered specific words which are *definitely* on my site, I don't get any matching results.

I assumed it would be a simple setting on either modules or pages which would allow me to enable search indexing but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for looking :)

  • please check out in Host :: Scheduler, that the search indexer is running frequently (about every 30 - 300 minutes)
  • in Admin :: EventLog check for indexing errors
  • in the database, table "search words" search for your words occurring
  • in Host :: Module Definitions, go to definition of the module, which was used to enter the search word (e.g. Text/HTML) and check, whether it supports "iSearchable" interface.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

Search indexing is running regularly.
I can't see any indexing errors in the event log
I haven't looked for the search words in the dataase yet - I'll have to work out how to do that first :)
The Text/HTML module I'm using does indeed use the iSearchable interface.

Just to be clear, I can search for some things on the site it's just that others cannot be found.

Is there any way to specify keywords on a page to point the search indexer in the right direction?

I am having the same problem with my site so I started to go through your checklist and was unable to find the Search Indexer in the Host::Scheduler. I did find DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler, DOTNETNUKE... Is this this what you were referring too and if not, how do you add the Search Indexer to the Host:: Scheduler?

Thanks
CJ

If you are using a clean intall of DNN 5.0.1 you need to add the "Search Results" module to the search page.  For some reason the DNN 5.0.1 install does not do this by default like it has in the past.
