Our DNN site stopped sending out internal messages such as notifying us when new members need to be approved. We checked the SMTP settings under the Host settings and it is set to 127.0.0.1 and the administrator's e-mail address is correct and functioning too. This is a critical issue for us, since we get a lot of regular subscribers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you use the Test link next to the SMTP settings?  Does the test mail get sent, and is it delivered?

My guess is that 127.0.0.1 (the standard IP address used for a loopback network), is not the address of your SMTP server.

Thanks for the tip Joseph! Yes, it was the wrong server specified. My ISP changed the mail server name without informing us!! Go figure. All is well now.
