I have a couple of DNN 4.9.0 installations. I recently installed a Module on them which had forms where FCK Editor was rendered on the page in an async Postback using UpdatePanel. The FCK Editor did not just show up after the async Postback.

I googled out, and found this was a problem with FCK Editor. Also, the site docs mention that this has been removed in the latest FCK Editor 2.6.4. So, my question is what should I do to upgrade my site to the latest FCK Editor version?

I believe this should be as simple as downloading latest FCK Editor scripts and replace:

Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FckEditor\editor

with
the editor folder in the downloaded zip.

But I am not too sure, as there are other files also in the downloaded zip.

Can anyone provide a precise series of steps to upgrade the installation to FCK 2.6.4

you should be able to replace the files inside Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FckEditor but might need to adopt  \Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\custom.\fckeditor.js accordingly.

Just a heads up - I had an issue the other day where the upgrade didn't work (had a server side error) and I came back an hour later and it worked... it was all down to caching.

So it might take a little while for the results to be seen, clearing browser cookies/cache is very good idea afterwards.... restarting the DNN app might be a good idea as well (and maybe even restarting IIS).

Hi Alex, can you detail the steps you followed?

Inside the base Fck folder, I have the following directories:

  1. App_LocalResources
  2. Custom
  3. FckEditor
  4. FckTemplates

plus there are some .aspx & .ascx files in the base Fck folder.

I see no reason to disturb App_LocalResources, FckTemplates or server-side aspx/ascx files. But if you have done it before, thought like seeking for advice!!
