Hi,

In my portal DNN 4.0.7 where i have installed the module: Ajax Text/HTML with MultiTabs and Multilanguage ( http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=12953 ) .

This error appears :

A critical error has occurred.
The control with ID 'updAjaxPanel' requires a ScriptManager on the page. The ScriptManager must appear before any controls that need it.

Why? What can I do?

Thanks

Neither the Snowcovered listing nor the module developer's website indicates the MINIMUM DNN version on which the module will run. AJAX scriptmanager support was not introduced into the DNN framework until DNN 4.5.0 or so (memory fails me as to the exact version). If you are running version 4.0.7 (and not 4.7.0), then I don't believe that the module will work without an upgrade of your DNN framework to a later version. DNN 4.9.3 is the current version.

If however, your DNN framework version is 4.7.0 rather than 4.0.7 (which I don't recal having been an actual version #), check under Host Settings to verify that AJAX has been enabled.

My DotNetNuke version is 04.07.00  ( is 4.7.0? ).

In Host Settings \ Advanced Setting \ Other Settings  AJAX is enable.

What else could I check  ?

Thanks

If you have not already done so, check that either System.Web.Extensions.dll is located in your site's /bin folder or that the MS AJAX extensions have been installed in the web server's GAC (Global Assembly Cache). Have you noticed any other problems with core functions or modules which are using MS AJAX?Beyond that, I would suggest trying to contact the module's developer for support, particularly confirming what minimum DNN version the module requires. A module does need to include a few lines of code to ensure that a ScriptManager instance is injected into the page if it is going to make use of AJAX or have enabled "Supports Partial Rendering" in the module manifest or registration. For some reason, that code is either missing or not functioning.

I think with older versions of DNN the AJAX was buggy (when it was first implemented)... so really you should be considering upgrading to 4.9.3 anyway (not forgetting the fact there are some serious security issues in older versions).
