I'm new to DNN  and using v3.2.2, the site is currently configured as a single parent with many child portals (one for each client).

I would like to allow the user to login at the parent portal and get redirected to the appropriate sub-portal, I have a homegrown idea on how to accomplish this using our current database but I was wondering how others accomplish this?

Portal 0

  •    Client 1 sub-portal
    • user A
    • user B
  •    Client 2 sub-portal
    • user C
    • user D

I would like user A and user C to both be able to type in www.myportal.com and be able to login at this URL, they are currently required to remember www.myportal.com/client1/ or www.myportal.com/client2/

Is there a setting that will allow this? I am not looking to re-invent the wheel here, but I was thinking I could populate a drop down list with all existing sub-portals and allow the user to choose, any replies appreciated!

Thanks!

Any suggestions? I searched quite a bit for this information and would appreciate hearing from someone who has already traveled this path and can help me out.

Can a user log in at the parent/root and be authenticated into a sub-forum within the DNN framework? Am I perhaps setting up my heirarchy incorrectly for my needs? thanks

Hey Rodnex,

I'm no DNN expert, but what I know of it, is that users and roles are not shared between portals, even if they are childportals. So logging in to one portal and automatically logging in to another should not be possible. There are however some modules available that allow the sharing of users over portals. Maybe that would help.
How to do the automatic redirect based on the user logging in I don't know.
