When I try to insert an event with the event module I get this error...

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible.

I don't understand why. I can add announcements in the announcements module and all other modules seem to work. Is there a separate connection string setting specific to this module?

There are two connection strings in the web.config file, make sure they are both configured properly. Some modules still use the old format, which is why it is in the web.config still.

One thing to watch is if you upgraded, and DNN executed SQL scripts on your database without using the proper objectqualifier you might run into issues down the road. I would recommend restoring your backups, and starting the upgrade process over to be safe (if that's an option)
