I have a front page with a map of the us.  I need to click on a state (for example Texas), Then i would like to go to a category page to get the category of information the user wants (for example Education) and then open the paget TexasEd.  How can i do this. 

I envision have a main page with the Map, one page to get the categories, and then one page for each state times the number of categories.  Can I do this? Or am i going to have to create 50 category pages?

I do not know of any built in features of DNN that offer this functionality. You could look at 3rd party modules and see if there is something out there, but I do not remember seeing any catalog like modules that use an image like that. 

You could do this manually by doing like you said and having a page for each state, then use the Text/HTML Module to load the map and then manually link each state to the proper page.  This is the simple low tech option.

there is free (donation accepted) Helferein ImageMap module available here, which might be of help to create the US map with links. you will also need either create category pages manually or I might have a more for you, please contact me at leupold (at) gamma-concept.de, if you are interested.
