Hi,

I have DNN 4.9.0 and strange problem with registration link in IE (both version 7 and 8). In Firefox it all works fine.

So, the problem is that link "Register" opens login page. In Firefox it opens normal Register page. I have specified custom Login page in portal settings. I see that Register link opens next: __doPostBack('dnn$dnnUSER$cmdRegister','').

What could be the problem with this...

Thanks, Ivan

I just experienced this problem today with IE and FireFox 3.10 in a child portal.

Is yours a child also?

Sorry for late answer...

No, mine is parent portal, but I have 2 parent portals if that means anything...

I just noticed also that I have this problem with Firefox. This is huge problem as none of users can register for site...

It sounds like your permissions mean that the page it is redirecting to for registration is not public, hence the request for a log in.

I still haven't quite sussed how registration works; it appears that the registration control is injected into all pages using some clever jiggery-pokery. I think that using a URL with /ctl/register/ within it - using any tabid you like - will bring up a registration dialog. I suspect that, by default, it uses the home page and if that's not available to unathenticated users then that might be the problem.

As a bodge and/or test, try creating a hard-coded link to a public page (one available to unauthenticated users). For example, I could craft the following URL using this page (as this page is public)

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/ctl/Register/Default.aspx

When you are logged in this shows your profile settings, but when you are not logged in then it shows the registration screen.

If this works then the problem is related to the home page not being public. You might try making the home page public but using the 'redirect after login' setting to make a page other than home appear when a user logs in, a bit like a fake home page.
