Hello DNN Developers,

I am looking for a module that will allow me to:

1) Create a blog with a specific template and custom fields

2) Search the blog given different custom fields (for example, each entry will have a location, category, tags)

3) Import the data into that blog

This application is for the nonprofit Engineers Without Borders (we have recently moved over to DNN) but we need help configuring it.  I am a volunteer programmer there but with limited ASP & DNN knowledge, can anyone help?

Thanks

James

Hi James... you might want to take a look into the fully template-able set of modules from Ventrian... www.ventrian.com

Not sure about custom fields... but you could ask the developer.  Most of the time you're better off leaving commercial modules intact, but I know Scott at Ventrian could do some custom work for you.  News Articles is the blog module he built.  Great pricing structure, too, you can download all current modules for fairly cheap.

Hi vollerworld,

Thank you much for the post and just looking at the demo at

http://www.ventrian.com/Products/Modules/NewsArticles/Walkthrough.aspx

doesn't really show custom fields and searching by those custom fields.  I will email the developers and follow up.

I've also been looking into AdvancedArticles by InvenManager and am waiting for a response from them.  The custom fields as actual DB rows and ability to template is extremely important in our implementation:

Are there any other suggestions? I appreciate your feedback alot!

James

I've inqured with :

ZLDNN - DNNArticle
VENTRIAN - NewsArticles
InvenMananger - AdvancedArticles

All of them have templating, however none of them seem to support custom fields for articles which are searchable by specific fields.  In my opinion, the best way to do searching is through the module creating a seperate db column for each 'new field'.. however my searches are all fruitless.

Anyone else know of any modules?

Thanks!

James
