 Hi all!

I have a couple of extremely basic questions regarding SSL-enabling pages in my dotnetnuke-portals.
I have a main portal with several child-portals and consider securing some pages in a couple of these child-portals.

Even though I'm a developer myself, I've never set up a site with SSL - the internal IT-guys have allways been taking care of that...   ;o).
Is it as easy as just enabling SSL in "Site Settings" and defining the selected pages as "Secure", or do I need to install a certificate first?
If so, do I need a separate certificate for each child-portal?

How do I go ahead installing the certificate (my portal is on a shared hosting provider)?
Du I have to buy this service from the hosting provider, or can I buy it from a 3.party?

Lets say I'd like to integrate my portal(s) with PayPal so visitors can pay for membership or products (through some kind of store-module) .
Is it vital to secure the related pages or can I leave it to PayPal to take care of the security?

Hope someone have the time to answer my (noob-) questions!

To use SSL in your DNN portals you need a SSL certificate for your domain (exact address www.mydomain.com), wich covers all subfolders (including child portals), or a wildcard certificate, which will include all subdomains as well (*.mydomain.com). The certifi ate needs to be installed and assigned for a dedicated IP address in IIS web site configuration.

You need to enable SSL and require SSL in DNN site settings to allow secured access to pages with "SSL" checked only.

Paypal will secure payment and credit card details, but if you want to secure customer data and login, you need to install SSL on your portal.

That's more or less the answer I expected, but It's good to have my assumptions confirmed.

One last question:
When creating a new portal for a customer, I normally configure it as a child-portal. When ready, I change the DNS-settings to point to the new portal.
This means that allthough one can access the portal using www.mydomain.com/newPortal, the "official link" is www.newPortal.com.
If I buy a certificate for www.mydomain.com, I guess I can use it for www.mydomain.com/newPortal as well, but not for www.newPortal.com - or am I wrong??
