Hi

I'm still relatively new to the DotNetNuke community and my first project is to create sites for a group of companies. I've used DNN 3.2.2 on SQL 2000. We have in the meantime decided to rather use SQL Express (since it's free) and have experienced no problems. I do have the following question: Is it possible to create a cross-portal (SuperUser) user with only content administrator rights? We have a marketing department that will be responsible for updating all 11 Companies' sites and I would like their users to each have a single cross-portal logon for updating the content of the sites. Is this possible or would I have to create seperate user account on al the sites?

Regards

Rudolph Mocke

This should be possible to create accounts that have access to all the portals... I am not sure there is an interface for it, however and you may have to manually update the database tables to make it work.

After they are a member of each portal you can put them in a group for each portal that has access to change the content.

Hi Jeff

I tried something like this already. I took the User ID from the "Users" table and duplicated the UserPortals records accross all the portals. Then I added the UserRoles for 3 sites to test and now the users still cannot log on to those sites (Even though they have records in the "Users", "UserPortals" and "UserRoles" tables). I think I'm missing something (like maybe making these users "SuperUsers" by means of the "IsSuperUser" field in "Users"), but if I do that, they can't log on at all.

I'll still see if I can find a different approach by looking at the other tables, but I think first I need to learn more about the User Role Model being used by DotNetNuke. I'll see if I can find anything else over the weekend.

Thanks

Rudolph

i think you need to look at the aspnet tables - the person will need to be listed in the right portal there (each portal is an application)
