Okay I have a question, I installed the v5 portal, and it installed nicely from the instructions, now I have a problem, how do I shoten the url to the portal?

I installed it like the instructions said, and in the config file, it said it had script in it to make it look like it is the root url, but it isn't, so I am asking here how to get it that way I will show in example here the issue. My site is on my own online webserver, and I have access to it through rdp, so manipulating things is no issue.

Here is the site url as it should be: http://acwroth.ws , this doesn't connect to the portal at all, even with the virtual path.

Here is what I have to type in to use the portal: http://acworth.ws/dotnetnuke/default.aspx , as you can see that is a lot of typing for people to go to the site, so how do i get it to work  by just typing in the actual domain name as above? Any help will be greatly appreciated, I like this program and may buy the professional version if the problem can get solved.

Thanks very much,

Vulcan

Here is what you want to do to get the site to work like you want.

1) Login as host into DNN.
2) Got to the site setting and add http://acwroth.ws to the alias list.
3) Close the site down.

4) Go into IIS and poin the site so the root directory is the dotnetnuke directory (so it does not run in a VD).
5) Access the site using the 1) Login as host.
6) Go to the site setting and add http://acwroth.ws URL and login as host.
7) Access the alias section and delete the
http://acworth.ws/dotnetnuke/default.aspx alias.

Sorry for not responding sooner, been out of town, but wish to thank you for the help, what you said done the trick, thanks, that helped a lot.

Now I have a different question, on the center strip on the site, like in the forum here, is there a way I can make that transparent? Just curious, I am new to the DotNetNuke setup, I have used php sites a long time and know how to do it with that, but just curious on how to set it to that on this site, also on the bacgroud of the whole site, I see it can tile an image to make it cover more space, but only does it to the top quarter of the screen, is there any way to extend that tiling to go down further on the screen to cover the whole screen? Sorry about all the questions.

Vulcan-
Your second set of questions should be posted in the "Make It Hot (Skinning)" forum topic area.
