I am having this issue for the first time using DNN 3.1.1. Before, I would just create the child portal and then when I was ready I would add in the full domain name as an alias. After a short period of time the child portal alias would then become editable and I would delete it. I have done this a number of times.
Now I have a child portal that I upgraded to a parent portal. When I browse the site with the domain name it goes there but then puts the child portal alias in the address bar and all subsequent browsing shows the child portal address at the top. Not OK. I have waited for over a week now and it still does the same thing.
So I tried to do the update by renaming and replacing the portal alias entries in the database as follows.
Before After
www.theforerunnernetwork.com/covenent www.covenantcareadoptions.com
www.covenantcareadoptions.com www.theforerunnernetwork.com/covenant
covenantcareadoptions.com covenantcareadoptions.com
The site still worked and it now allows me to edit the child portal alias, but it still put the child name in the address bar. So I deleted the child alias name (www.theforerunnernetwork.com/covenant) and now the site just redirects back to my host site when I try to browse.
I am going to wait a little while and nothing happened so I added the child alias name back in. Now I still cannot access the site using any portal alias. I can't imagine that the site is totally gone because I deleted and then added back a portal alias.
I never had to do this before on any of my many host sites. What has changed and how can I get the site back? What was happening before when I would just wait and the child alias became editable?
