I haven't seen this piece of art before, i.e. there is sth in your installation, which interferes proper display of the editor. unfortunately, I do not have a clue, what this could be.

This is the exact same screen I got when I installed FCK Editor application by itself one of my other web sites hosted by DiscountASP.Net. No one at DiscountASP.net has an answer either.

 could it been caused by compression or a (misconfigured) proxy server)?

did you clear your local browser cache?

I cleared the local browser cache, that's not the problem. I left the proxy settings blank. The instructions on DiscountASP.Net said nothing about special proxy settings. I am playing around with the Custom Editor Settings for FCK Editor to see if I can maybe happen upon some change that might work.
