Hi, everybody. I've encountered problems with launching DNN Source version 5.0.1, while doing the following:

0) Removed DotNetNuke_Cambrian from IIS

1) i've extracted all the files from DotNetNuke_Community_05.00.01_Source.zip

2) Copied "development.config" as "web.config"

3) Opened "DotNetNuke_VS2008.sln" which opened Visual Studio 2008

4) Hit Ctrl-F5

5)Got the following error message (at http://localhost/DotNetNuke_Cambrian/Install/InstallWizard.aspx):

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 05.00.01

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.MSAJAX.Serialize(Object Obj) at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.ClientAPI.SerializeClientVariableDictionary(Page objPage, Dictionary`2 objDict) at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.ClientAPI.CAPIPreRender(Object Sender, EventArgs Args) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnPreRender(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlInputHidden.OnPreRender(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

before open VS2008 sln the first time, I always open it with a text editor and adopt the path of the web site to suit my situation.

make sure targeting ASP.Net 2.0

besides, make sure, all permissions are granted correctly to ASP.net user ("Network Service" or ASPNET on XP)

Cheers from Germany,
