Hi all.

I have 2 portals on a live DNN site. I have backup the live site and restored it on local machine but it's only the principal portal (with the portal id 0) which works.

I have created a new virtual directory with the url http://localhost/site2 and modified all the portals in the config but when I try to view the 2nd portal, the content of contentpane, toppane, bottompane, ... are not loaded.

Thanks for your help

Are you sure you're logged in with Edit rights? If so are you in "Design/Layout" mode, instead of in Edit or View mode?

How did you backup and restore?  I've done this several times with our live site by:

  1. backup the database to a file
  2. copy database and dnn install file to my local machine
  3. zip up the DNN install directory (you can skip 3 and 4 if you copy down via FTP, I copy via a Windows Share)
  4. unzip my DNN install (this clears any permissions that may screw with IIS)
  5. creating an IIS site with the same  exact settings as my production site and point it at the DNN directory
  6. restoring the database to my local SQL Server Express installation
  7. either modifying portal aliases via a SQL Query or editing my machine's hosts file to point the company URL at 127.0.0.1

I've done this like yours but  I didn't modify portal aliases via SQL Query. I modified my portal aliases in host menu in DNN admin.

How to modify portal aliases by SQL query ?

I've logged in with host account and I am in edit mode.
