Hi all,

I would like to use email addresses for usernames but the login page is not working when I try to do so.

For example, username = test is just working right whereas username = test@test.com is failing with "Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive"

I suppose that the problem is coming from the username input verification (@ must be the issue) occuring before checking the credentials.

Any idea on how to make this works?

Thanks,

Pascal

Pascal, I've tried to register a user with the username test@test.com in 3.2.2 and the forthcoming 3.3 version, and it works as expected with both. I don't have a copy of 4.x at the minute to test with, what version of DNN and the framework are you working with?

Hi Cathal,

Thanks for your response. I'm using DNN 4.02 on .NET 2.0.

Try to create this account and then login:

  • Username= test.test.test@test.test.test.com
  • Password= test.test.test@test.test.test.com
  • Email= test.test.test@test.test.test.com

When I do so it fails. However, if I change the password to simply test, it works. So the problem is not in the username but in the password.

Hope this helps.

I know, there are some restrictions for the password - this might include a max length, but should also prohibit use of username.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your response.

Your answer makes sense but then why the admin portal allows me to set such a password?

Take care,

Pascal
