When trying to setup a sub portal for a user on a DNN 4.9.2 system setup to provide hosting I get the following error:

Connection Interrupted
The document contains no data.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.
Please try again.

The system seems to get caught up after setting the template option in the portal creation tool area,
after a minute or two it spits back the error-document contains no data.
To work around this how does one disable the template option?

Currently it does not allow me to setup a sub portal without specifying a template.

Does anybody know what could possibly be causing this problem?
I have noticed notice bunch of errors in event viewer I am none the wiser as to whether or not they are connected to this issue.

The errors are a combination of:

InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
FileLineNumber: -1
FileColumnNumber: -1
Message: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.GetCurrentPortalSettings() at Jegers.Gallery.Config.get_DefaultRootURL() at Jegers.Gallery.Config..ctor(Int32 ModuleId) at Jegers.Gallery.Config.GetGalleryConfig(Int32 ModuleID) at Jegers.Gallery.GalleryController.GetSearchItems(ModuleInfo ModInfo)

Initially these errors were occuring every minute of the day until I tweaked DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler

The main issue that really needs resolution is the first error as this is preventing sites from being setup.

you need to use a template when creating a new portal - this is required, otherwise there will be no admin user, registered users, home page etc.

regarding your first error, do you try to create a parent page? in this case make sure the new domain address is forwarded to the DNN installation in IIS web site configuration. Do not point multiple IIS web sites to the same DNN installation. use Host headers instead.

If you have issues creating a child portal, there are most likely file system permissions missing for the ASP.Net user account ("network service" by default).
