Hello,

I am having trouble with users who are logged into any child portals being automatically and randomly logged out of the system when clicking update on modules.  After they click to update they are brought back to the login page, and must relogin and try again whatever they were doing.

I have found that it is only a problem on child portals and not a problem (even in the childs) if it is the host admin account.  I have also found that if the users that are in the child portal are also users in the host portal the problem does not exist.

Is there a fix for this, or any information you could provide for me on how to get a workaround, besides making sure all users of my child portals are also users in my host portal?

Thanks
James

  • Which DNN version are you running?
  • is this behaviour same in all modules or only in specific ones? Core modules are usually tested to behave well in parent and child portals during the release process, but our testers might have missed sth.

I noticed the same problem and found in this forum that it is a known one. It made me avoid using child portals for forums and other site that need login.

If you've found that this is a known problem in these forums, then you would have also found the solutions as well:)

There are at least two known solutions.  All solutions require you to identify the offending page that is causing your child portal to logout.  Look for any page or page object that has an asp extention.

Solution 1.  Add tabid or mid parameter when calling that page or object.

Solution 2.  Add that page to web.config to exclude it from authentication check (sorry, don't have the syntax handy.)

Start using your child portals once again...
