Apologies folks if this has been covered, I know it has been talked about a lot, but I cannot find any specific answers.

I have a completely new install of DNN 5.1.1 hosted by www.ixhosting.com.  Without even making any amendments to the site, database etc; the load time as well as login and anything else take ages (login more than a minute).  I tested it at home on a 6mb line and at work where we have a 100mb pipe.  No improvement.

I'm primarily using IE8 on Windows 7 RC but also tested it on Firefox and Chrome.  Even though I had to fix the layout in the latter 2, the site is still slow.

I would be grateful for any suggestions on how to speed it up - dramatically.

Thanks in advance.

there are a couple of threads about performance, and there are a number of different possible bottlenecks.

To narrow it down:

  • does it happen for all users and visitors?
  • does it alwas feel slow or just on first startup?
  • do you have statistics about sql server performance?

Cheers from Germany,

Sounds like a hosting issue to me.  Assuming you are on a shared hosting plan?

More than likely there are a whole bunch of other DNN sites running on the same server yours is.

Thanks Sebastian

It happens for all users and always feels slow.  I don't have statistics.  You can check the speed at your end if you browse to www.ectoolz.com.

I can give you host account details if you PM me.
