Hi All

I am actually using the professional version of DNN (v 5.1.0) but I have a query . Does anyone know how I can stop a user from copying an address in the address bar and emailing it to someone else ?

My site is a members only site.. When a member logs in and clicks on a link (to be redirected to a training package) currently they can copy what comes up in the address bar & email it to a non member who can run the package. Any ideas how I can force someone to login if they do this ??

Regards  John

Hi John

You can't prevent people from copying URLs, meddling with querystrings etc etc.

What you can do though is set the page with the training package to be registered user only, or for access to certainly roles only.  This will give you the control you're looking for, where they have to log in to access it.

If you are concerned people will just give others access to the account, you'd have to work on the training package itself - possibly to store certain information or once stages are complete they can only be reviewed etc.

Hope it helps.

Thanks David. This is how I currently have the page setup, however once the link has been copied the user does not need to login to get access to it, so ultimatley they can run the package without being logged in !!

Thank you for your reply anyway !

Is the 'package' a file in your file system?  If so, use admin file manager to make sure that only registered users can see the folder.

Barry is not quite right, if the link is provided using relative path, everyone may download file w/o login.

Make sure to use a LinkClick.aspx link (by enabling "open in new window"), this validates user permissions for the folder it is located in.
