As far as I remember, dnn is supposed to load the skin's name css file, so if the html file is myskin.html and the css is myskin.css, dnn is supposed to load the myskin.css file, correct? Did something change in v5?

Are you just not seeing the styles effect the page or are you not seeing it when you view the HTML output source?

I am not a Skin expert, however I like you would have assumed that doing skins the way we have for years would work (just the way you describe), however I looked at the latest DNN 5.1.x version and the default/sample skin package is a actual package now.  What this means is that it has the various files as before, but they are all defined within a .dnn file like modules or any other installed extensions.  I would guess that the issue is that you are missing this .dnn manifest/definition file.  Here is a link to the default/sample skin package I am speaking of so you can take a look as see what I am referring to: http://www.brisingergroup.com/Portals/0/DNNCore/Forums/DNN-MinimalExtropySkin_01.00.04_Install.zip
